Must be available one of the below shifts:
Shift 1: Monday-Friday 9am to 12pm
Shift 2: Monday-Friday 12pm to 3pm
SUMMARY
The Library Clerk is responsible for performing routine and repetitive library work that is critical to library service. While this position may involve some contact with gallery visitors, it does not routinely involve direct contact with library patrons. Shifts are Monday through Friday. Must have flexibility to work occasional evenings if changes in courier routes arise.

Essential Job Functions

* Complies with established rules of operation, procedures and policies of the City of River Falls and River Falls Public Library.
* Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patrons’ use of library materials, programs and services.
* Primary role in the following processes:
- returns
- overdue and billed items
- expired holds
- outgoing courier
- problematic returned item
- incoming courier
- new holds
- new material
* Assists with weeding, shelving and stamping withdrawn material when needed.
* Participates in educational improvement.
* Other tasks as assigned.

This position requires interpersonal skills and abilities including:
- Must establish and maintain working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other City personnel and the public
- Demonstrate strong teamwork skills
- Demonstrate friendly, courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with both internal and external customers
- Must have strong communication skills with the ability to speak and communicate clearly during personal interactions
- Able to use patience and courtesy when interacting with patrons who may be angry or irrational
- Must be able to tactfully interact with the public in potentially sensitive situations
- Ability to accept and respond positively to coaching
This position also requires some technical skills including:
- General knowledge of library organization and workflow
- Must be familiar with library operations, policies and procedures
- Proficiency in Office 365 (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Operate office equipment including copier, scanner and fax machines, phones, and computers
- Proficiency in library software (Sierra and MORE catalog)
- Operation of the Automated Material Handling (AMH) system

Qualifications & Working Conditions

Minimum – High School Diploma
Preferred – One year of work experience in library field

WORKING CONDITIONS
 Work is performed in the library which includes exposure to computer screens. Primary functions require:
- Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting
- On a frequent basis use hands, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk and hear
- On a frequent basis must be able to stand, walk, sit, talk and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally lift, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds
- Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine motor coordination including use of a computer keyboard
