River Falls local historian and author, Jayne Hoffman has published The River Falls Public Library: The Legacy of its Founding Mothers.

This inspiring history chronicles how local women’s organizations championed the creation of the town’s public library. Through decades of advocacy, fundraising, and creative solutions, women’s groups—including the Tuesday Club, Home Culture Club, and Improvement League—transformed River Falls’ literary landscape. Extensively researched, this book documents how the town’s founding mothers created both an institution and a legacy of civic leadership that continues to enrich the community. From its humble beginnings as a subscription library to its status as a vibrant community hub, the River Falls Public Library stands as a testament to the power of civic engagement and perseverance. Hoffman’s meticulously researched history reveals how generations of dedicated women transformed a small Midwestern town’s library through their tireless advocacy and innovation. At the base of their commitment was the firm belief in the transformative power of public access to books and knowledge.
