Print, copy, fax, scan
You can print in black & white or color from any public use computer. There are three black & white printers throughout the library and color prints are sent to our multi-purpose copy machine.
- Black & white prints are $.10 per page or side.
- Color prints are $.50 per page or side.
With permission from the library staff, you may use your own paper. You will still need to pay for your prints.
Please read our Computer Use Policy before using our computers.
Documents on a flash drive can be printed by the library staff at the Reference Desk. We can print most Microsoft Office files, OpenOffice files and PDF documents.
PRINT FROM ANYWHERE
You can send print jobs to the library copy machine from anywhere – from home, work or in the library.
From your computer or mobile device, send or forward emails with attachments to print@ricohprintcloud.com.
You will get an email with your print code. Your print job will remain confidential until you print it out. The code expires in 1 week.
- Black & white prints are $.10 per page or side.
- Color prints are $.50 per page or side.
COPY
Use our copy machine to make copies. The copy machine accepts coins and dollar bills. No credit cards.
- Black & white copies are $.10 per page or side.
- Color copies are $.50 per page or side.
Our copy machine does not make photo quality copies. If you need photo prints, use on an online service or a local print center.
FAX
Faxing is $.50 per page. Stop at the Circulation Desk and a staff person will send the fax for you.
You can also send faxes at Family Fresh Grovery Store, Holiday Gas Station, or Kwik Trip gas stations in River Falls.

SCANNING
Our copy machine will scan to your personal USB flash drive or to an email address. The copy machine does not scan to portable hard drives or send faxes.
The library also has a public computer with a flat-bed scanner. Scanning is always free.

Wifi in the library
The library has free wifi to use with your device or computer. Please read our Wifi Policy before using our wifi network.
WIFI Hotspots
The library has 37 wifi hotspots to checkout. Wifi hotspots should be reserved through the MORE catalog. Wifi hotspots need to picked up and returned in River Falls. Please read the wifi hotspot policy before reserving a wifi hotspot.
Computers
The library has 8 Windows computers and one Mac for public use. Two computers are reserved for youth, one with a scanner. There is one Accessibility computer with adaptive technology that is reserved for users with cognitive and physical disabilities.
For use on public library computers – USB 3.5″ floppy disc drive, DVD/CD drive, and SD card media drive.
The computers have internet access and Microsoft Office. You may not alter, delete or copy any software loaded on the laptop or otherwise change the existing configuration. You may not install downloaded software or use your own software on library computers.
All of the computers can print to either a black and white or color printer. Black and white prints are $.10 per page or side and color prints are $.50 per page or side. With permission from the library staff, you may use your own paper. You will still need to pay for your prints.
To use the computers, your library card must be up-to-date. If you are an out-of-state resident, you can use a guest pass. Wisconsin residents need to have a library card to use the computers. Please read our Computer Use Policy before using our computers.

Free tax forms usually arrive by February of each tax year.

AARP Tax Aide Program at the River Falls Public Library
An AARP phone line will be in service starting January 8, 2024 to begin scheduling appointments and to answer questions that you may have. Click here for PDF of other locations and details.

Service will be BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and will require only one visit. We will prepare your return, conduct our quality review, and go over your COMPLETED tax return all in the same visit. Before you leave, you will receive a copy of your tax return before authorizing the electronic filing of your return.
You will need to contact them to schedule an appointment and request a Tax Aid packet. The packet will be mailed to you in advance and must be completed prior to appointment. Please complete and sign the intake form and bring with you. Please note one change this season, we are no longer able to do returns for taxpayers with Minnesota income.
We WILL need each person to bring last year’s taxes and all the income sheets, 1099s, W2’s, etc., property tax and/or rent certificates with them when they come the first time. Please check last year’s taxes to be sure all information is complete.

File your taxes electronically
Federal free-file
Beginning in January 2021, almost everyone can file electronically for free on IRS.gov or with the IRS2Go app. The IRS Free File program, available only through IRS.gov, offers brand-name tax preparation software packages to use at no cost. The software does all the work of finding deductions, credits and exemptions for you. It‘s free for those who earned $72,000 or less in 2020. Some of the Free File packages also offer free state tax return preparation.
If you’re comfortable preparing your own taxes, you can use Free File Fillable Forms, regardless of your income, to file your tax returns either by mail or online.
